The 10 PM Meeting
Your workday ended. Your brain didn't.
It's 10:45 PM. The global leadership call finally ends. You've made decisions, resolved escalations, reviewed numbers and committed to tomorrow's priorities.
Laptop closed. Work done. Or so you think.
Your mind is still processing that last conversation. Dinner was late. Sleep will be later. And tomorrow? The 7 AM alarm isn't negotiating.
For many leaders, this isn't an occasional exception. It's a normal Tuesday.
The Hidden Cost
Your body doesn't automatically switch into recovery mode just because you've closed your laptop. Late-night mental stimulation, stress and irregular routines can make it harder to unwind and get restorative sleep.
Over time, insufficient recovery can affect your energy, concentration, mood and physical performance.
Two Small Changes
So what's the solution? Quit your global role? Move every meeting to 4 PM? Nice thought. Not always realistic. Instead, start with two small changes.
1. Create a 15-minute shutdown ritual
After your last meeting, write down tomorrow's top priorities, step away from your screen and give your mind permission to switch off.
2. Protect your sleep anchor
Keep your wake-up and bedtime reasonably consistent. After an unusually late night, adjust the next morning's demands where possible rather than sacrificing more sleep.
These aren't magic fixes. But they can help you create a more sustainable rhythm.
The Bigger Question
Are you building a career that demands more from you every year, while neglecting the capacity needed to sustain it?
The ReGenX Perspective
At ReGenX, we believe leaders shouldn't have to choose between professional ambition and personal performance. We help them systematically build the physical and mental capacities to perform, recover and thrive — even when life refuses to follow a perfect schedule.
You may not control every meeting on your calendar. But you can build the capacity to handle the demands of leadership.
So, what's your biggest challenge after a late-night meeting — switching off, getting enough sleep or waking up energised?
